Up here in Talkeenta Alaska at the Sheep Creek Lodge with my former platoon SGT Marc Taylor.  We teach a series of precision rifle classes for a great group of new and returning precision rifle shooters. We focus on the fundamentals and making marksmansip vs gaming. I get it, context matters, but man nothing bets a true marksman. 
I the gap was not too annoying but we are busy and moving around the country doing our thing.

Range, Match, Safety.  
Treat all weapos as if they are loaded
Never point the muzzle at anything you are not willing to destroy and take full responsibility for. 
Finger straight and out of the trigger guard until the sights are on target 
Be sure of your target and backstop, you own the bullet until it comes to a complete rest 
Use the bolt as your visual safety indicator

The Everyday Sniper Episode 72 Scope Calibration 
In this episode we talk about scope calibration as a primary step to setting up your ballistic calculator.  One of the first things mentioned in the Kestrel Presentation was scope calibration.  It's important to tell the software how your scope actually tracks so it can correct any errors you might encounter.  It's quite common for a scope to be off 1% - 2% and it's an easy enough fix as most software has the ability to adjust this.
Simple process does not take up a lot of time and can be done without shooting.
