The Everyday Sniper Episode 193 Chassis talk, Hunter Ballistics Musings
The Everyday Sniper Episode 193 Chassis talk, Hunter Ballistics Musings
Welcomes to the Everyday Sniper, in this episode I breakdown some thoughts on Marc's weaponized maths. I shot a video for the Sniper's Hide Online Training featuring the use of the math, and it worked out really well here in CO. I had to make a few minor tweaks at the extended ranges, but overall, excellent little video to show you how to put it in practice. This conversation Segways into the talk of ballistics. A hunter came on Sniper's Hide and was confused by setting up his ballistic computer for his hunting rifle. Part of the issue is trying to have these longer range zeros on the rifles. For a modern shooter, I recommend a 100 yards then for hunting you can always dial up to 200, or 300 yards. But still you need to know you rifle and it's drop. Guys making these long impressive shots on animals are not winging it. They treat it the same as hitting a target in a match. In other words they are putting in their homework on the subject.
Another area of interest, stocks and chassis. I put together several rifles this past week. Moving barreled actions around so they match up with a specific chassis or stock I am looking at. Currently I have the McMillan A10 here, with the JP Chassis, the MDT ACC, and finally the Cadex Strike Nuke. So with all these chassis arriving I need barreled actions to put in them. It's important to match the action to the chassis, so I was playing musical chassis.
Finally, most of the classes of 2019 are finished or sold out. We are getting ready for 2020, which means I need to coordinate locations. If you want to me to visit your area reach ou to me asap to help set this up.
Thanks for listening, thanks for sharing and thanks for being a part of the everyday sniper podcast.
Peace out

Great episode! I am anxious to hear your detailed review of the Cadex strike nuke... definitely thinking about that one. I’ll watch for the group buy. I volunteered to help with sight in days at our club range before the fall hunts and will try to convince guys to follow your advice on zeroing at 100 and doping to their comfort level distance. Best regards.

You have got to teach a class at Altus! I'm right down the road from them and shoot there most weekends. Regardless of the cost of your class I'll be there. I'll talk to Mike and the crew to push them.

Every time I hear a new podcast it makes want to hit the range the next day. Trying out some of your tip. I already checked out Marc Taylor's Math and compared with my DOPE. Thank you Marc. And a special Sniper's Hide addition of the Cadex stock sounds it would be money in bank to use toward a better action/barrel setup. Thanks again Frank!
