The Everyday Sniper Podcast: Episode 269 Road Tripping
Okay Everyday Sniper Listeners, Marc and Frank are on the Road driving to Dubuque Iowa for our next set of classes. We just left Minnesota after a short pit stop at JP Rifles. Happy Birthday Adam!
We had a great class in MN with the guys at the Gopher Rifle and Revolver club, we more importantly we are answering your questions.
You asked, we answered, and had a little fun with it as we drive the backroads. I think we have another fun podcast here for you all. We love those mountains with the four big heads...
Hope you enjoy, thanks for listening, thanks for sharing and thanks for being a part of the Everyday Sniper Podcast

So anyone who asks to arm wrestle Frank from now on may need to be kept a closer eye on. 👀

Looking at competing in nighforce elr match 2021. In 2020, the 300 norma mag won, do you have any suggestions on what caliber you would gravitate towards to?

Frank, can you talk about shooting at different elevations and how things change? My home range elevation in PA starts at 850' and hits 1200' at 1000 yards. I used the weaponized math to dope my rifle today and was within .1 or .2 MILs for each range, except at 600 yards I had a predicted dope of 4.2 MILs and had to adjust to 4.8 MILs to be on target. Is this difference due to the change in shooting angles between elevations? I'm running an RPR 308 with the older factory prime.

Great podcast and I pick up so many great tips. Why you think no bullet manufacturer has developed a higher bc boat tailed bullet as an alternative to the .224 55gn Sierra GameKing, which was designed 40 years ago!? I have a rifle with the slower 1 in 12 twist (Tikka T3x) and can't use any of the newer hunting bullets of any weight that have been developed for .223 as they won't stabilise because they're too long. I shoot out to about 600m.

Side note: my 10yr old daughter herd one of the rants on “competition” trigger weight and asked me what the weight on her rifle was. It’s 4.5lbs. Her response?... “if a 10yr old girl can shoot 4.5 why can’t grown men” 🤷🏻♂️... she just started shooting and now whines she’s a bad a$$. 😂🤣😂

Gents, I was asking how to find the number for your gun in relation to the “12 Rule”. We have H58s on the 300wm and TMR reticles on the 110s. I’m not a Horus fan either. I wasn’t looking for shortcuts. I wasn’t very clear on the my first question. I was just wondering how you come up with the 11,10,9 numbers. Caylen and Phil said they fine tuned the M110s to a “10.5 Gun”with the Recon guys a few episodes ago I was just wondering how that number came up.

2) cleaning: how often? Is the old WWII/benchrest clean-after-every-session needed? Or the “copper-equilibrium” theory -only when accuracy decreases - the right answer?

Love these podcasts! I learn from every one. You asked for questions: 1) barrel break in: does it matter? Why/why not? If it matters, is the beak-in technique specific to the barrel make?
